New blog, new start. I'm going to try to be more intentional about writing down my devotional thoughts here. I find that during my journaling seasons of life, I go much deeper in my walk with God and the truth I draw from His Word.
Maybe something here will help someone along their path, but mainly my goal is to use this as a personal tool in sermon prep, study, writing, and working out the rough ideas a in my head. This blog is driftwood. Raw, scrappy, messy, awkward, and hopefully beautiful.
I was once referred to as driftwood. A few years ago, I was told my life would amount to nothing for God, I was done. Washed up. I had messed up too badly to be used by God to anything more that park cars in a church parking lot. I was a piece of driftwood lost at sea never to return to land.
Well, too bad for that guy. Too bad the God who rescued me happens to delight in using messed up, broken, raw, scrappy things for His glory! 2 Corinthians 12:9-10 spell out that it's when I'm weak, that God annoints my life with His power. So now God has called me to pastor DECIDEDchurch in Columbia, South Carolina. We're a brand new church plant that thrives off of seeing God make beautiful things with the driftwood of our hearts. Hey, the way I see it, if God gets glory in my failings and weaknesses, Im gonna boast in them all the more! I'm here to make Him famous!
Jesus, I need your manifest presence and power in my life now more than ever. Can I just get to know and love you better through this blog? It's my goal that I can use this as a tool to communicate the fullness of You better. I'm yours, take my life, take this blog right now.
For His Fame,
Jim
